As a reminder, Thursday, October 17th, will be a 60-minute early dismissal for all students to accommodate Parent-Teacher Conferences. Additionally, there will be no school on Friday, October 18th, as conferences will continue throughout the day. Parents and Guardians, thank you for being our biggest supporters. You all have helped and supported us through many endeavors already this school year. You supported Open House, more than half our families showed up. Last week you guys came out to book fair and supported us with your contributions. This week I am asking you guys to support us by not allowing our scholars to bring toys and trinkets to school. That includes balls, stuffed animals, Pokemon cards, toys, cars, and the likes. We are finding that students are becoming distracted in class as a result of toys that are coming in from home. Unfortunately, if students are bringing any of these toys to school we will have to take them from students and they can be picked up in the office by the parents. Thank you for supporting us as we support you.

District 186 Families, We want to remind you that we are fast approaching the deadline for students to have their physical and immunization information turned in per state guidelines and district policy. Please make sure that you have contacted your school’s nurse with your child’s upcoming physical/immunization appointment or that you have turned in your physical and immunization paperwork this week. Students failing to provide required health information will be excluded from school starting October 1st.

If your student or students would like to purchase books they will have an opportunity tomorrow and Friday starting at 1:00pm till 2:30 pm. School Fundraisers benefit our school and our students. One of the things we will be celebrating next is the class who gets the highest points on their MAP test. We are rocking things out at MW❤️🌸

Saturday, November 16th Registration 8:00 a.m. Program runs 8:45 a.m. - 12:30 p.m. For over 16 years, the EAA Conference has supported families, educators, and professionals to empower students with exceptionalities. Families are invited to our Book Fair on September 18, 2025 from 11:30 am to 1 pm. Parents will have the opportunity to purchase lunch for $5. Lunch will include Papa Johns pizza, chips and a drink. We will also have our Krispy Kreme fundraiser. Donuts will cost $1. You are welcome to spend time with your student while you shop the book fair. All shopping will take place in the atrium. Parents will not visit classrooms. Students will come out and shop with their parents. We will end promptly at 1 pm.

Parents and Students, we will begin our MAP testing this week. MAP is a very important test that we use as a benchmark to determine students academic stature. This test is so important because it is used as a college and career indicator. Based on test scores, we are able to determine how prepared a student is even for high school. In order for your student to perform best, they should have a good nights sleep, have breakfast and arrive to school on time. We are asking that parents put students in bed early and talk to them about the importance of doing their best on the test. All of our students will engage in a data talk and set a goal for testing. Parents, encourage your student to meet their goal!

🚨 Exciting News! Thanks to one of our amazing District 186 parents, Matheny Withrow Elementary is now part of the Look. It’s My Book! (LIMB) program! 🎉📚 K-4 students will receive 7 brand-new books every year, helping them build their own personal libraries at home. 😍✨ Students get to select from a table full of interesting titles to select their own book! LIMB has already handed out over half a million books and counting! Kids get to pick books that THEY love, sparking a passion for reading. 🙌📖

Thank you to all of the Grandparents and parents that came to celebrate with us on Thursday for Grandparents Day. We enjoyed a special event and shows lots of love to our families. Ms. Morris provided charcuterie, bubbly, fruit and refreshments. We hope, in the future, to host more families. Thank you for partnering with us to support OUR families.
